The First Jam is returning to Mae Sot. This time, we’ll be teaching for 3 consecutive days to migrant youth between the ages of 17–20, with around 60–80 young people joining the programme. The idea behind The First Jam is simple: everyone should have equal access to creative activities and culture, regardless of their circumstances or background. What we really want to do is give them a grassroots starting point — an opportunity to try something they may never have had access to, discover an interest, meet people, build confidence, and hopefully find a direction that can lead them somewhere in the future. Sometimes, all someone needs is a jump start. And if one day, any of these young people becomes an artist, we hope they remember where they started — and give the same opportunity back to their own community. Each One Teach One.
